Male Breast Reduction
Excess breast development in men is known as gynecomastia. It can be caused by hormonal changes, certain medications, drug and alcohol use, and other health conditions. Often this results in men feeling intensely self-conscious, limiting their comfort in taking off their shirts, or requiring men to even wear multiple shirts to help conceal the breast development. The best treatment for gynecomastia is male breast reduction surgery.
At Snodgrass and Robinson Plastic Surgery male breast reduction surgery is customized to each patient’s particular needs. The procedure involves removal of excess tissue and fat, and sometimes excess skin. This may be done by liposuction, direct excision, or by some combination of both. Surgery generally lasts from 1-3 hours, and is performed in our accredited onsite facility. Most patients are back to normal activity within 1-2 weeks, and released to full activity at 4-6 weeks.
Gynecomastia is a much more common problem for men than many realize. Drs. Snodgrass and Robinson have the experience and ability to help restore the masculine chest wall gynecomastia patient’s desire.
